Here are your alternatives: You could learn to write the sales copy yourself but that will take many, many hours - and there's no guarantee you'll get it right. Let's face it - copywriting is a skill that is hard to attain.

If you want to do it yourself here are just a few of the things you'll have to master:

• Attention Grabbing Headlines & Sub-Headlines - Does your headline enter the conversation that's already going on in your prospect's mind? Does it get the attention of your target market? If not, rewrite it. (Many copywriters say that you have to write at least 50-100 headlines before you can get it right.) Same thing for the sub-headlines as well...

• The All Important Introduction - You have about ten seconds to hook them into your sales letter and keep them reading...if they leave, that sale is gone, probably forever (and every future sale to that customer as well!)...make it interesting enough so they keep reading...

• Hooks - How are you going to "catch" your prospects without a properly baited hook? Or better yet, hooks. Make sure your hooks fascinate, pull and persuade your prospects to where you want them to go...

• The Body Copy - Needs to be ultra-compelling, read and needs to get people to take action...it can't be dull or boring or just a list of features...and be sure to include some stories they can relate too as well...

• Many Different Kinds of Bullets - Turn your features into tantalizing, desire creating bullets, and use several different types of bullets...one example would be "teaser bullets." There are at least 7 more you will need to know. Rotate them throughout your copy.

• Money-back Guarantees - Guarantees can make or break the sale...how are you going to structure yours? How are you going to present your guarantee so it pushes your prospect ever closer to the sale? How can you write so it not only increases sales but reduces refunds as well?

• Call-to-Action Statements - These will need to get your prospect off the couch and away from the TV...and that's definitely not something they want to do...so you have to make sure your call-to-action statements are both compelling and powerful enough to overcome their laziness and inertia...

• Sales Psychology - What's going on in your prospect's head? What are they afraid of? How will your product or service become THE ANSWER they are looking for? And how will you not only present it as THE ANSWER but how are you going to weave that solution into your sales copy???

And after all that you'll have to sharpen your copy to a razor's edge for maximum conversion and profits... Not to mention you'll probably have to shell out some big bucks for copywriting courses (some of them cost more than $1,000...ouch!).

And you'll have to study too...many copywriters believe that to become a master copywriter is going to take 10,000 hours of study. If you want your copy to simply be "good enough" it's going to take somewhere around at least 1,000 hours of study...then you'll have to take the time to actually write the sales letter...

And if your sales copy doesn't work???

If your copy doesn't convert then you are losing money...both now and in the future...you see, once you've sold somebody something, you can (and should) keep selling them things...BUT, if you don't make that first sale then those future sales might be lost forever...

Let's say you've decided against writing your own copy...

Your next choice might be to outsource your copy to a regular copywriter. This can be a good decision (usually better than writing it yourself) but many times these guys only write copy...perhaps they've only taken a course or two and have decided to call themselves "copywriters." (So be careful.)

They're not marketers and they don't sell their own products so they don't really get the big picture - the product creation, the product marketing, the sales and customer service...everything that marketers have to do to make money.

Let me tell you just a little bit about me... I wrote my first sales copy at the age of 13 - before I even knew what sales copy was! This was before the internet...you see, my friend and I came up with a product (a game). We then wrote the sales copy and put the ad in a magazine...I'm happy to report that we actually made sales too! Then I go through each course. Read (or watch or listen...). Take notes. Do this several times...sometimes 10 times...sometimes more! I create a checklist of everything that was covered...can't write good copy without a good checklist...this is good for you because not only do you get a copywriter who is also a marketer, your copy gets some major checklist treatment from all those courses (probably around 20 by now, but who's counting?)...bottom line is I've got a big checklist binder and I don't release any copy until it's been through all the checklists several times...
